REGION: HQ (San Rafael, CA)

LOCATION: Hybrid (on-site + remote)

REPORTS TO: Sr. Director of HR

The Director of Talent Recruitment & Success is a high-impact leadership role designed for a team builder who can bridge the gap between “hiring” and “thriving.” With org-wide influence, this position is the architect of our talent development strategy focused on securing and effectively seating the critical talent needed to drive the future of our mission. Requirements:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment Strategy & Talent Pipeline Management

  • Partner with department heads to identify niche hiring needs and execute targeted recruitment strategies using LinkedIn Recruiter, Handshake, and other resources.
  • Proactively develop and maintain a “talent bank” of pre-qualified candidates for mission-critical or high-demand roles to ensure zero lag time in hiring.
  • Serve as the initial screener and first point of contact for all incoming applications, ensuring every candidate meets rigorous standards for competency and mission-alignment.
  • Act as the internal client for the Marketing department, providing storytelling content, staff testimonials, and data to drive recruitment-focused social media and branding campaigns.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership to help define new roles, draft compelling job descriptions, and design engaging recruitment experiences that mitigate bias.
  • Use data insights to inform strategy and drive continuous improvement.

Campus & Community Leadership

  • Build and maintain deep partnerships with school campus career centers and their respective recruitment ecosystems.
  • Design and lead the organization’s presence at career fairs and networking events to ensure 10,000 Degrees is the employer of choice for recent graduates entering the social impact space.
  • Represent 10,000 Degrees at various community events, including fundraising and appreciation functions.

Onboarding & Talent Success

  • Develop and direct an intentional, comprehensive onboarding program that supports compliance and integrates mission immersion, organizational culture, and role-specific training.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for new hires during their first 3 months, coordinating structured check-ins to identify training gaps and ensure role alignment.
  • Partner with department heads to create individualized Success Roadmaps, ensuring new staff have the mentorship and resources needed to be fully autonomous and contributing by their third month.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years experience in talent acquisition or people operations, with at least 2 years in a a leadership or strategic role
  • Mastery primary recruitment resources, including LinkedIn Recruiter and Handshake
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws
  • Demonstrated ability to translate organizational mission and culture into compelling recruitment marketing content
  • Proven ability to design training and orientation programs that measurably improve employee retention and engagement
  • Excellence in managing a high volume of applicants while maintaining a highly personalized and premium candidate experience
  • Deep familiarity of the regional talent market and college landscape in the regions that we serve
  • High level of professionalism, including excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite applications
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and initiative including the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and be self-reflective
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
  • This position requires some in-person presence and/or travel within the regions served.
