Job description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and paying out money per members’ request.
  • Handling branch cash vault duties including:
    • Maintaining cash levels within established limit. Determining weekly cash needs.
    • Preparing outgoing shipments, verifying incoming shipments to amount requested.
    • Preparing documentation of currency movement (i.e. Brinks log, vault log, accounting entries, mutilated & contaminated currency, etc.).
    • Facilitating cash transfers between tellers & vault.
    • Processing currency & coin orders per members’ requests.
  • Verifying checks and cash and examines documents for essential elements.
  • Entering members’ transactions into the teller system and providing receipts.
  • Reviewing & providing system overrides on other tellers’ transactions, when needed.
  • Reviewing member accounts to make appropriate decisions.
  • Balancing cash drawer daily.
  • Promoting TowneBank as well as all related bank products.
  • Assisting members in person and on the phone.
  • Following the Bank’s security guidelines on a daily basis.
  • May perform other duties such as balancing the cash dispenser, settling the ATM, ordering supplies, settling internal bank accounts, balancing the branch, etc.
  • Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.

  Minimum Required Skills & Competencies:

  • At least 2 years prior bank teller experience
  • At least 2 years' work experience using basic computer skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Bank software programs
  • Ability to keep cash drawer in balance on a daily basis
  • Ability to accurately process monetary transactions in a timely fashion
  • Proven ability to give our members excellent service in person, on the phone and by email
  • Able to handle more complex teller transactions, use independent judgement and answer more complex teller and general banking questions
  • Flexibility to learn quickly and adapt easily as new systems or processes emerge
  • Ability to work as an integral and reliable team player
  • Punctual, dependable, and able to keep unplanned absences to a minimum

Desired Skills & Competencies:

  • Experience handling the vault cash or acting as a backup vault teller
  • Experience mentoring or training new tellers

Physical Requirements:

  • Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
  • Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
  • Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

The good-faith compensation range for this role is expected to be $42,200 to $55,000, based on the role, market, internal equity, and candidate qualifications.
