Role Statement

Creates exceptional customer experiences primarily on the job site by providing a high level of service, courtesy, and knowledge. To drive a delivery vehicle to transport materials to and from specified destinations. Deliveries are to be done safely and within the State and Federal guidelines.


Location

This position will be performed onsite at our store. Remote work is not available for this role.

  • Demonstrate a high level of safety awareness to ensure you, your peers, our customers, and suppliers remain safe while in our facilities. 
  • Understand and follow the TAL PPE requirements as outlined in the TAL PPE Matrix by wearing the required PPE at all times.
  • Load, deliver, and unload materials as a service to customers.
  • Prevent damage and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Operate various types of equipment and vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
  • Report on vehicles and equipment needing service and repair.
  • Maintain necessary trip logs, vehicle inspection reports and other required documentation.
  • Driving truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, knowledge of the roads in the area and being aware of hazardous conditions.
  • Verify load against shipping papers.
  • Prepare receipts for load picked up and for returns.
  • Assist in keeping the yard clean and orderly. Report any unsafe conditions.
  • Assist with building loads, as required.
  • Develop an understanding of basic products and commodities.
  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
  • Utilize phone apps as required by our TAL Fleet Management Program.
  • Follow our MVR Guidelines and TAL Fleet Management Program to ensure compliance with TAL Building Centers standards, FMCSA, and other governing bodies.  
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Drivers must meet state requirements, including having a valid driver's license. 
  • 5 years' experience preferred. 
  • Must have a current valid medical certification.
  • Must meet our MVR criteria to perform safety sensitive duties.


Physical Requirements

  • Heavy Work: Lifting or exerting up to 100 pounds of force seldom and/or up to 80 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 60 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Heavy work involves standing and/or walking occasionally-frequently. Requires the ability to work alone without risk to oneself and operate equipment without close supervision. 
  • Occasional sitting
  • Occasional stoop / kneel 
  • Seldom crouch or crawl
  • Frequent reaching-extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Constant use of hands/fingers to handle or feel (operate, active, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, position).


Wages

Starting wages will be based on years of experience and education.
