Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
Job Summary:
The GIS Test Lead is responsible for leading quality assurance activities for Geographic Information System (GIS) applications, integrations, and data workflows. This role defines the test strategy, coordinates end-to-end testing, manages defects, and ensures GIS solutions meet business, operational, performance, and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong test leadership with hands-on knowledge of geospatial platforms, enterprise system integrations, and modern quality engineering practices.
Must Have Experience and Skills:
• 10+ years of experience with software testing and SDLC including experience developing test strategy, leading teams and testing programs.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience testing GIS applications and geospatial workflows in enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with:
o Software testing methodologies, test design techniques, defect management, and release validation.
o Test strategy, test planning, risk-based testing, regression management, and release readiness assessment.
o Manual testing, exploratory testing, integration testing, UAT coordination, and defect governance.
o API and database validation, including data integrity, reconciliation, and interface testing.
o Test management tools, reporting dashboards, and quality metrics.
• Strong GIS platform knowledge:
• Including geospatial datasets, maps, services, workflows, utility network model and enterprise integrations.
• Experience with Esri technologies such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Field Maps, or related GIS platforms.
• Experience with test automation and test automation strategy.
• Working knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and environment coordination in modern delivery pipelines.
• Experience testing REST APIs, data pipelines, integrations, and database-driven applications used by GIS platforms.
• Experience in utility industry (electrical and gas preferred).
• Experience supporting cloud modernization, migration, or large-scale platform upgrades.
• Experience working with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid delivery models.
Salary Range: $110,000 - $125,000 a year
