Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Director of Engineering
Supervises: Maintenance Engineers
Prime Directive
Safety, satisfaction, and guest comfort is our only goal. Every associate, regardless of position, accepts responsibility for every aspect of hotel operations.
Summary
The Engineer Supervisor assists the Director of Engineering in the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Department. This role serves as the working lead of the engineering team - performing hands-on maintenance and repair work while also providing direct oversight, guidance, and coordination to a team of Engineers. The Engineer Supervisor acts as the primary point of contact for the department in the absence of the Director.
Service
Each associate will adhere to a strict code of providing excellent and consistent service through the brand service training program. The Engineer Supervisor is expected to model exemplary guest service behaviors, support service recovery efforts, and foster an environment where all team members prioritize guest comfort and satisfaction.
Essential Functions
Leadership & Supervision

  6. Conduct daily shift briefings to communicate priorities, pending work orders, and any relevant updates to the team.

Maintenance Operations

  2. Respond to and resolve guest repair requests in a timely, courteous, and professional manner; communicate status updates to the Front Desk and relevant departments.
  3. Troubleshoot, repair, and perform maintenance across multiple disciplines including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, painting, and general building systems.
  4. Inspect completed work orders for quality and thoroughness before closing; verify guest room repairs prior to releasing rooms back to the Front Desk.
  5. Maintain a work order tracking board and ensure all open and pending orders are monitored and followed up on appropriately.
  6. Perform all surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacements, and thorough cleanup of all work areas.
  7. Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work, and ensure all team members do the same.

Safety & Compliance
  1. Enforce all company safety and security policies and procedures; immediately report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries to the Director of Engineering.
  2. Ensure the team adheres to proper lifting techniques and safe handling of electrical tools and equipment at all times.
  3. Assist the Director of Engineering with MSDS compliance and all other associate and guest safety programs.
  4. Support compliance efforts during brand standard audits (e.g., Marriott Brand Standard Audit) by ensuring department readiness.

Administrative Support
  1. Maintain accurate records of work performed on guest rooms and equipment; assist the Director in updating preventive maintenance software.
  2. Assist with monitoring maintenance supply inventory and communicate replenishment needs to the Director of Engineering.
  3. Communicate each day's activities, completed work, and any outstanding issues to incoming shifts using approved communication standards.
  4. Continuously update room status to the Front Desk and verify final reports as directed.
  5. Coordinate with other departments to fulfill guest special requests and resolve issues efficiently.

  2. Courteously accommodate guest special requests and be prepared to answer questions regarding hotel facilities and local area services.
  3. Assist the Front Desk in resolving guest complaints quickly, efficiently, and courteously.
  4. Operate hotel vehicles defensively and safely; use vehicles only for company business and wear a seat belt at all times.
