Company Description

IDEALFORCE has a Contract-to-Hire positions available immediately for a Mainframe IMS/DB2 System Programmer to join our customer in Phoenix, AZ. Please find below additional details about this job. Kindly respond with your most up to date resume if you would like to pursue this opportunity. 

Performs installation, maintenance and support of mainframe software and utilities, for IMS, DB2, and CICS with emphasis on IMS. Qualified candidates must be flexible and able to work 1st shift, and occasional off hours and weekends. In addition, 24x7 on-call availability as required.

Job Description

-Installation, testing and deployment of IMS maintenance and upgrades.
-Installation, testing and deployment of z/OS OEM software maintenance and upgrades.
-Installation, testing and deployment of DB2 and/or CICS maintenance and upgrades.
-May do installation, testing and deployment of CA-Datacom maintenance and upgrades.
-Mentor state agency application developers to utilize best practices for DBMS coding and methodology.
-Perform research and design on new technologies and make recommendations.
-Creation of Policies, Standards and Procedures for the Database system support and usage.
-Interface with external partners, customers and vendors.

Qualifications


-The ideal candidate will possess three to five years of mainframe and IMS system programmer experience.

-MS System Programming experience required.
-DB2 System Programming experience required.
-CA-Datacom System Programming experience highly desired.
-CICS System Programming experience highly desired.
-Knowledge of IMS system internals.
-Knowledge of and experience with using IMS commands to start and stop IMS, alter bufferpools, 
perform recovery, list threads and determine their status, manipulate IMS connections with other subsystems (including CICS, IMS, DB2 and other database systems.
-Knowledge of mainframe infrastructure to include experience or familiarity with IBM Mainframe tools and jobs (i.e. TSO, JCL, SDSF, ISPF, CICS, IMS/DB, IMS/DC DB2, z/OS, WLM SMP/E, IDCAMS, IEBCOPY, DBCTL).
-Performance analysis and tuning using various monitors.
-Strong ability to utilize system diagnostics to arrive at problem solutions (Messages and Codes, dumps, console messages, etc).
-System Dump reading experience desired.
-Experienced with REXX and CLIST programming desired.
-Proficient PC skills include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
