Ontologist - Expert System Integrator
Are you an experienced Systems Integrator with deep expertise in GEOINT, ontology frameworks, and enterprise-level systems engineering? Mission Intelligence Group is seeking a highly skilled Ontologist - Expert System Integrator to support the evolution and integration of mission-critical capabilities across the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG) and Allied System for Geospatial Intelligence (ASG) enterprise. In this role, you will drive the adoption of new data sources, guide ontology governance, and ensure seamless integration of capabilities that directly support national security missions.
Your Role
As an Ontologist - Expert System Integrator, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor supporting the Government's vision for enterprise-wide systems integration and data interoperability. You will lead the design, implementation, and governance of ontology frameworks, translate mission requirements into actionable solutions, and provide expert guidance that enables efficient planning, acquisition, and execution of GEOINT capabilities. This role requires a strategic thinker who can bridge mission needs, technical architectures, and stakeholder priorities across a complex Intelligence Community environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee integration efforts across the NSG/ASG systems-of-systems enterprise
  • Provide expert technical guidance relating strategy, requirements, processes, and capability development
  • Conduct solution assessments, integration planning, and scheduling analysis across product lines and mission services
  • Capture, analyze, and translate mission and customer requirements into operational capabilities and technical solutions
  • Partner with Product Managers to support backlog grooming, roadmap development, and feature prioritization
  • Analyze user workflows and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
  • Evaluate cloud service capabilities, architecture traceability, workflow constraints, and scheduling limitations
  • Interpret and implement customer data requirements while ensuring mission alignment
  • Collaborate with IPOs, the Chief Data Officer (CDO), and other enterprise stakeholders to achieve Content Conveyance objectives
  • Support Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), Courses of Action (CoA), Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments
  • Lead technical teams responsible for ontology design, implementation, governance, and lifecycle management
  • Establish and maintain ontology frameworks supporting Foundation GEOINT
  • Assist Government leadership with technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design
  • Maintain Agile project schedules using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms
  • Operate effectively within multi-contractor and Government team environments while managing competing priorities and deadlines
Required Qualifications

    • DoD/IC Acquisition Processes
    • Requirements Development Processes
    • NGA Production and Dissemination
    • IC TCPED Operations
  • Expert-level experience in:
    • Systems Integration
    • Systems Engineering
    • Enterprise Architecture Integration
  • Active TS/SCI clearance adjudication or ability to obtain SCI eligibility and successfully pass a polygraph
  • Ability to work independently and lead technical teams within a complex mission environment
  • Demonstrated success working within multi-contractor and Government organizations
Desired Qualifications
  • Expert proficiency with:
    • Basic Formal Ontology (BFO)
    • Common Core Ontologies (CCO)
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
