Position Title: Lead System Integrator โ€“ Critical Infrastructure

Position Location: Texas - preferred locations include Lubbock, Amarillo, Big Spring, Fort Worth, Dallas, El Paso, or surrounding areas

Job Summary

The Lead System Integrator โ€“ Critical Infrastructure is a key contributor in the construction and startup phase of large-scale mission critical building automation systems. Provides technical support and leadership to plan, schedule and execute project installation, startup, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning and closeout of the largest and most complex building automation systems software integration projects in industrial, commercial and mission critical/technology sectors.

The Lead System Integrator โ€“ Critical Infrastructure will work with design engineers, construction contractors, the project Design System Integrator (DSI), equipment vendors, and client staff to ensure proper operation and acceptance of the automation and software solutions.

The Lead System Integrator โ€“ Critical Infrastructure will receive day-to-day direction and coordination from the site super intendent but shall be capable of executing on required tasks in a largely independent manner. Lead System Integrator โ€“ Critical will oversee the installation efforts of electrical sub-contractors and manage teams of up to six System Integrators through the L2 and L3 system verification process.

This person will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.

Essential Functions Startup, Commissioning and Closeout of BAS / EPMS / HVAC Controls Systems (80%)
  • Lead teams in pre-functional and functional testing of critical BAS . EPMS systems using PLC and SCADA platforms
  • Execute troubleshooting of BAS / EPMS equipment, IO, instrumentation and network systems including corrective actions
  • Participate in commissioning efforts with external stakeholders
  • Analyze system operation, work with project team to demonstrate system operation and verify consistency with the contracted scope of work
  • Perform QA / QC of BAS / EPMS and integrated systems using software tools
  • Provide installation inspections and other closeout duties to ensure customer acceptance
  • Provide markups for shop drawings to document as built conditions
Reporting and Communication (10%)
  • Contribute to project reporting including daily site updates, daily site safety reporting and progress reports
  • Document and track issues and out of scope efforts
  • Communicate regularlly with subcontractors, project managers, clients and commissioning agents on project progress
Technology, Digital Tools & AI-Enabled Efficiency (10%)
  • Leverage AI-enabled and digital tools to enhance efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support consistent, high quality work output
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and demonstrate a continuous learning mindset, seeking out new technologies, skills, and methods that elevate individual and team performance
  • Adapt to emerging technologies and evolving digital workflows, actively supporting the integration and adoption of innovative tools across the organization
Completion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget

Position Requirements (Advanced Level for all the following)
  • Knowledge of HVAC, mechanical and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of controls wiring, relay logic, and associated sensors and field devices
  • Knowledge of central cooling plant equipment, components and sequences of operation
  • Experience with startup and troubleshooting of PLC platforms including Allen Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix
  • Experience with troubleshooting low voltage electrical systems
  • Experience with startup and troubleshooting of SCADA platforms including Ignition
  • Experience leading small teams in testing and troubleshooting of controls systems
  • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management
  • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation
  • Ability to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace
  • Ability to interpret AE construction drawings, BAS shop drawings, manufacturers wiring diagrams, standards documentation, submittals and product data sheets
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements
  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)
  • Ability to communicate effectively directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines
  • Ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others
  • Ability to achieve certification for NFPA70E and / or OSHA training as required
  • Ability to maintain jobsite and keep it organized
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Travel/Relocation Requirements
  • Must have a valid driverโ€™s license and ability to rent vehicles
  • Must live in or relocate to Texas, with preferred locations including Lubbock, Amarillo, Big Spring, Fort Worth, Dallas, El Paso, or surrounding areas
  • For Texas-based candidates who are not directly local to the assigned project site, travel cadence may be flexible/negotiable depending on home location and project assignment
  • Out-of-state candidates must be open to approximately 50โ€“75% travel based on business needs
  • Effective May 7, 2025, a valid REAL ID or acceptable alternative, such as a passport, is required for domestic air travel
  • Travel may involve transportation by car or plane depending on destination and business need
Education/Experience Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering, construction or related discipline
  • OR
  • Two years of experience with hands-on installation, testing, validation and troubleshooting of controls infrastructure
  • PLUS
  • Minimum of five years of additional experience with installation, hands-on testing, validation and troubleshooting of controls infrastructure ideally in PLC and SCADA implementations
