Job description

SMX is seeking a Knowledge Systems Integrator to support government client at Camp Smith. The Knowledge Systems Integrator (KSI) / Knowledge Manager will enable units to leverage emerging AI technologies and integrate them with DOW operational technology (OT) to enhance mission effectiveness. This role is responsible for integrating Knowledge Management practices with SharePoint, Power Platform, Maven Smart System, and other tools used to support military, defense, intelligence, operational, and business process workflows. This role ensures interoperability between advanced analytic tools and current OT systems across air, space, cyber, and Joint operational domains. The KSI leads rapid prototyping, experimentation, and deployment of AI enabled capabilities while applying KM principles to ensure knowledge sharing, adoption, and sustained utility. The Knowledge Systems Integrator helps ensure that organizational knowledge is not only stored, but structured, governed, searchable, reusable, and ready to support AI-enabled workflows.
This position requires a current DoD Top Secret SCI security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.
This position is full-time onsite in Aiea, Hawaii.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and support AI-integrated systems that improve client workflows and decision-making.
  • Transform operational and business processes into tools that can be integrated into AI-enabled environments.
  • Support Maven Smart System as the primary AI and operational integration platform.
  • Develop AI-enabled workflows that connect organizational knowledge, data, tools, and decision processes.
  • Support the design and development of in-house LLM capabilities trained or turned on approved organizational data, where authorized.
  • Develop retrieval-augmented generation workflows using trusted organizational data sources.
  • Support AI agent workflows that retrieve information, summarize content, call tools, generate draft products, and support human decision-making.
  • Design prompt templates, prompt chains, structured outputs, and reusable AI patterns.
  • Integrate AI systems with cloud environments, APIs, databases, knowledge repositories, dashboards, and workflow tools.
  • Support embedding models, vector search, knowledge retrieval, data ingestion, and AI search capabilities.
  • Develop rapid solution development, prototyping, and fielding of emerging technologies to test and evaluate AI system performance, accuracy, relevance, and usefulness.
  • Work with the AI Integrator and Knowledge Systems Integrator to ensure AI tools are operationally useful, adopted by users, and connected to real client workflows.
  • Support AI governance, human-in-the-loop review, data protection, and auditability.
  • Coordinate with partner organizations, technical teams, and operational stakeholders to ensure AI tools meet SOF operational requirements.
  • Develop training programs, documentation, and knowledge sharing initiatives to optimize adoption of AI enabled tools.
  • Apply KM frameworks to ensure knowledge capture, retention, and continuous improvement within AI enabled operations.

Required Skills & Experience
The requirements are structured to welcome entry-to-mid-level KMs who are eager to learn, while highly valuing technical capabilities as growth accelerators.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Knowledge Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Intelligence Studies, Military Studies, or related field.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience; additional experience may substitute for degree.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power BI.
  • Experience supporting military, defense, intelligence, operations, or business process environments.
  • Ability to manage knowledge repositories, metadata, taxonomy, content lifecycle, and governance.
  • Familiarity with Maven Smart System or Palantir-based platforms preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AI-enabled search, retrieval, automation, and knowledge workflows preferred.
  • Must meet applicable DoD 8140 / DCWF requirements.
  • IAT Level II or IAM Level I equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience administering digital document libraries, corporate wikis, intranets, or collaboration portals (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence, Teams).

  • Data & Semantic Modeling: Basic understanding of vector databases, Knowledge Graphs, or schema architecture.
  • Emerging AI Technologies: Understanding Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), or prompt engineering function.
  • Programming: Foundational exposure to Python or SQL for data sorting and processing.

Certifications Required
Required Baseline (Within 6 months of hire)
  • CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent security credential to validate a foundational understanding of secure networks, data compliance, and access permissions).

Recommended or Preferred (Highly Valued, But Not Required to Apply)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102) (validating cognitive search and AI deployment).
  • Palantir Foundry Certified Data Engineer or Application Developer (confirming ontology construction and application design).
  • AWS Certified AI Practitioner or AWS Machine Learning - Specialty (proving cloud-based AI system awareness).
  • Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM) (demonstrating industry-standard traditional knowledge management principles).
