What does a system implementation manager do?

A System Implementation Manager oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of new software or technology systems within an organization. They coordinate between technical teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure the system meets business requirements and is implemented on time and within budget. Their responsibilities include managing project timelines, training staff, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a smooth transition from old to new systems. Effective communication and strong project management skills are essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a system implementation manager?

To thrive as a System Implementation Manager, you need strong project management skills, technical expertise in IT systems, and typically a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with ERP software, CRM platforms, project management tools like Jira or MS Project, and certifications such as PMP or ITIL is often required. Job description

About Us

Higharc is a VC-backed startup that is changing how new homes are designed and built. Join a founding team who’ve shipped products for Autodesk, Electronic Arts, Nike, and Apple. We have raised over $175M with support from top-notch venture capital firms and more than 18 strategic investors: industry leaders in construction, building products manufacturing, and distribution.

Higharc is seeking a strategic, hands-on VCD Implementation Manager to lead the team responsible for onboarding homebuilders onto the Higharc platform. This is a leadership role for someone who builds systems, holds a high bar, and isn't satisfied with delivery that stops short of real customer adoption.

What You'll Do

You'll own the Implementation function end-to-end — managing a team of Implementation Leads and Specialists, setting the standard for how implementations run, and making sure customer onboarding consistently delivers measurable value. You're not just keeping projects on track; you're challenging how the work gets done and building the infrastructure for the team to scale without adding headcount every time volume increases.

A big part of this role is operational clarity. You'll create the reporting and dashboards that surface where work is flowing and where it's stuck, then act on what you see. You'll push your team toward standardization — fewer one-off approaches, more templates and repeatable systems that preserve quality at scale. When something goes sideways with a customer, you step in.

You'll also work closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Sales — translating implementation learnings into product feedback and coordinating across teams to solve problems that don't stay in one lane.

Expect to:

  • Own planning, scoping, and resourcing across active customer implementations

  • Manage and coach a team of Implementation Leads and Specialists, with clear goals and accountability to results

  • Build and maintain reporting on plan throughput, QA/QC ratings, milestone achievement, and team capacity

  • Identify inefficiencies in how the team works and drive adoption of better, more standardized approaches

  • Serve as the escalation owner when customer implementations are at risk — and see them through to resolution

  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Sales to surface learnings and improve execution

  • Travel up to 20% for customer on-sites and company retreats

About You

You're a leader who gets things done through clarity, not just effort. You've managed implementation or project teams in complex environments and you know that true success isn't plan delivery — it's adoption. You set high expectations for your team and for yourself, and you're willing to get into the details when that's what it takes to clear a blocker.

You thrive when there's ambiguity to structure. You don't wait to be handed a playbook — you build one, test it, and improve it. You're as comfortable presenting to leadership as you are working through a thorny process problem with your team. And you have enough technical depth in BIM and construction workflows to earn credibility with the people you manage and the builders you serve.

You have:

  • 5+ years using BIM software and/or leading implementation or project teams in tech, construction, or homebuilding software

  • Proven experience managing people and running complex, fast-moving customer onboarding projects

  • A track record of building and using team performance metrics — throughput, quality, efficiency — to drive real improvement

  • Hands-on knowledge of CAD/BIM tools (Revit, AutoCAD, or similar) and homebuilding or construction workflows

  • Strong instincts for spotting inefficiency and the follow-through to actually fix it

  • A bias toward action and a willingness to challenge how things have always been done

  • Clear, confident communication style with high expectations — for your team and yourself

Working at Higharc

Remote work and travel: Our company is entirely remote, and has been since we were founded in 2018. Remote work means more time with family, less time commuting, and the flexibility to blend work and life. We value in-person collaboration and asynchronous deep-work time, which is why we schedule regular team meet-ups in our hubs across the US and, depending on the role, prioritize hiring in those hubs. If your role requires frequent travel beyond pre-scheduled team meet ups, we will represent that to the best of our ability as early as possible in the interview process.

Compensation and benefits: Higharc offers competitive salaries with significant equity, in a fast-growing, well-funded company. We provide comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with flexible PTO, and meaningful maternity/paternity leave to all U.S based employees that are full-time. You'll also have access to other big-company benefits such like short and long-term disability plans and a 401K. We also provide a stipend to create the ideal home office and support ongoing L&D.
Please note: we are seeing an uptick of fraudulent recruiting activity claiming to be associated with Higharc. All communication and outreach from our in-house team will come from an @higharc.com email address.
