The Boeing Platforms engineering department is seeking a highly capable Senior Systems Engineer to develop avionics flight display systems for air transport platforms. Our teams deliver advanced, safety-critical systems that improve flight efficiency, enhance situational awareness, and enable connected aircraft operations worldwide.
This role is ideal for a systems engineer with solid hardware or hardware-focused subsystem experience who wants to take technical ownership across the full system development lifecycle - from architecture and requirements through integration, verification, and certification.
What You Will Do:
  • Develop and decompose system-level requirements into subsystem and hardware requirements for flight display products.
  • Support system and subsystem architecture definition, interface control development, and technical trades across The Boeing Platforms Department product lines.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, software, FPGA, systems integration, safety and project engineering teams.
  • Contribute to integration of display system hardware and subsystem elements in system labs.
  • Support verification planning, test development, and execution to meet ARP4754A objectives, and Collins Aerospace engineering standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk/issue discussions, and IPT technical coordination
  • Prepare and communicate clear technical documentation and engineering artifacts.
  • Drive continuous improvement in systems engineering practices aligned to Collins CORE and The Boeing Platforms Department development processes.
  • 10-15% travel as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hardware development experience, OR 5 years of experience developing subsystem components (hardware architecture, hardware-software interface, requirements, integration, and verification).

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with FAA/EASA certification processes and industry standards such as ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-160, or similar.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams in a fast-paced, highly regulated domain.
  • Experience with Collins flight displays or Boeing Platforms architectures.
  • Background in system integration labs, hardware-software interface definition, or aircraft connectivity systems.
  • Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama).
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to lead system-level tasks or navigate complex technical issues.
  • Experience with Collins production and manufacturing operations.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
