Who are we looking for?
Our Technology Design and Consulting team in Chantilly, VA is looking for an Audiovisual System Designer who will play a pivotal role in delivering innovative AV solutions for corporate, higher education, and government clients. From intimate conference rooms to large-scale campus installations, your expertise will shape environments that inspire productivity and engagement.
In this role, you'll lead client consultations, conduct site surveys, and translate customer requirements into high-performance AV systems. You'll produce detailed engineering drawings and specifications, coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and architectural disciplines, and ensure quality and consistency by applying AV design best practices. Your responsibilities will also include reviewing contractor RFIs and submittals, inspecting work in progress and final installations, and witnessing system commissioning. Additionally, you'll support sales with engineering estimates and manage multiple concurrent projects-delivering on time, within budget, and exceeding client expectations.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Solutions Analysis: Analyze specific problems and issues to find the best solutions. Solutions could be technical or professional in nature.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Solution Development: Define and deliver services that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems.
  • Design and Conceptualization: Produce multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products/services.
  • Quality Assurance Testing: Carry out a specified range of complex tests; interpret test data to verify that specifications are met and/or to identify remedial actions required to ensure conformance

What you will bring to the team:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience
  • Current CTS Certification, CTS-D and/or CTS-I a plus
  • Certifications for manufacturers including Crestron, Extron, QSC, and Biamp a plus.
  • Minimum three years of experience designing Audiovisual systems; this may include: video, audio, control, video over IP, audio teleconferencing, video teleconferencing systems, and networking
  • Experience using REVIT required
  • Product experience with all major AV system manufacturers including Creston, Extron, QSC, Biamp, Vaddio, Cisco, and HP/Poly
  • Understanding of supportive infrastructure for these systems, cabling, conduit, terminations, head end and distributive equipment
  • Experience with EASE and other acoustical modeling software a plus
  • Federal work experience desirable
  • Be able and willing to travel to client locations and job sites in the Washington DC metro area and more distant locations as required (short term travel)
