Position Summary


We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for a growing company.  This is not a purely managerial role. The ideal candidate will be actively involved in day-to-day accounting operations while providing leadership, financial insight, and process improvements across the organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting and financial reporting activities.
  • Lead and participate in month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and cash management functions.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Manage audit, banking, tax, and compliance activities.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the accounting team.
  • Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, job profitability, and strategic financial analysis.
  • Drive process improvements and system optimization initiatives.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Must be a hands-on accounting leader who is willing and able to roll up their sleeves and work in the details when needed.
  • Strong job costing experience is required, preferably within project-based, construction, labor, event services, or related industries.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) experience is a major plus.
  • Experience supporting multi-location operations.
  • Experience with ERP implementations, reporting tools, and process automation.
  • Knowledge of Union labor is a HUGE plus!
