Opifex-Synergy represents a unique business model in the compact and heavy equipment industry. We offer a diverse range of equipment from leading manufacturers, serving the needs of everyone from large commercial construction firms to local subcontractors and general contractors.
The Yard Technician maintains the cleanliness of the yard and keeps rental equipment organized to minimize customer wait time. This position assists customers with equipment check-in, check-out, and provides basic operational guidance.
Essential Functions
  • Prepare equipment for rent by cleaning with a power washer
  • Ensure proper PPE is worn while working in the yard
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment
  • Provide customers with basic operational training as needed
  • Fuel and meter equipment upon check-in
  • Record fuel logs and other required information
  • Stage equipment for deliveries
  • Maintain organized yard layout and equipment placement
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the yard
  • Ensure all rental equipment is properly tagged and includes required keys
  • Perform small deliveries and pickups to job sites or retailers using a pickup truck as needed

Required Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Valid state-issued Driver's License
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Military service will be considered in lieu of education/certification experience as applicable.

  • Work is primarily conducted in construction sites, equipment yards, and transportation routes
  • Regular exposure to heavy machinery and diesel-powered equipment
  • Frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind
  • Physically demanding environment with uneven terrain, dust, mud, and loud noise levels
  • Duties may involve both shop-based and fieldwork activities
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols is required at all times
  • PPE such as steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection must be worn as required
  • Must be comfortable operating around large equipment and working in active environments
  • Lifting heavy components and materials is frequently required
  • Flexibility and adaptability are essential due to changing job site conditions

Physical Demands
  • Requires a high level of physical stamina and mobility
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of equipment up to 50 pounds or more
  • Regular bending, squatting, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
  • Prolonged standing and walking on uneven terrain such as gravel, dirt, or pavement
  • Climbing in and out of trucks, trailers, and equipment
  • Ability to work from various heights and maintain balance
  • Manual dexterity and coordination required for securing equipment and completing documentation
  • Must safely operate vehicles and remain alert in active environments
  • Occasional pushing and pulling of heavy materials
