SWAT jobs include positions with the Special Weapons and Tactics team of a local, state, or federal law enforcement agency. All SWAT positions focus on crisis response, so you investigate people who are aggressive, dangerous, or mentally ill. In this position, you may help patrol a crisis site, assist the FBI, and use specialized equipment and vehicles. Most SWAT personnel perform regular police officer duties for the majority of their work, but you are on standby to respond to critical situations. SWAT teams almost always work as a large unit, so teamwork and communication are essential to this role. Shifts are often irregular and may include nights, weekends, or holidays to ensure the unit is ready to deploy at any time.
