Job description


Mortenson is currently seeking a Sustainability Specialist that will be responsible for working with project teams to support and educate on sustainability project responsibilities and assist with carbon reduction, management and data collection.
Sponsorship is not available for this position
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support wind energy leadership with the development of group sustainability strategy in line with latest industry developments
  • Implement and administer sustainability program at project site(s)
  • Support project management team in developing and executing site-specific sustainability requirements
  • Conduct regional research into low-carbon alternatives, waste diversion/management options, water stress, and regional materials
  • Coordinate and support sustainability orientation and training programs
  • Review sustainability submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings with Trade Partners/Subcontractors
  • Monitor and review Trade Partner/Subcontractor work plans and activities for sustainability concerns
  • Conduct work site environmental sustainability inspections
  • Partner with multiple project stakeholders for project impacts and data collection
  • Record information in necessary sustainability software
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction/Construction Management, Architecture, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Sustainability, or equivalent experience
  • Previous related internship experience a plus
  • LEED with Contractor's Commitment, Envision, UN Sustainable Development Goals, Equator Principles
  • Current driver's license
  • Detail orientation to organize and manage multiple project tasks
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to collect pertinent information
  • Basic understanding of construction documentation
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web applications
  • Positive and professional attitude, strong customer service skills (communication, persuasion, problem-solving, teamwork)
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
  • Active listening skills and effective communication, openness to diverse input and feedback
  • Ability to travel up to 100%

The base pay range for this role is $81,200 - $121,800 . (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
