Description
Team Fishel , the Best Choice for Utility Engineering and Construction, is hiring an experienced Survey Instrument Operator for our Surveying & Engineering division in Stafford, VA, who is ready to advance their career through fast-paced, hands-on training to become a Survey Party Chief.
Responsibilities
  • Using GPS equipment to set control, property corner searches, topographic surveys and staking of easements and rights-of-way
  • Occasional use of Total Station for the above
  • Maintain equipment and supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license required
  • At least two years of experience using GPS equipment required
  • This role is 100% field-based and requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to operate and train others in the use of survey equipment including conventional and electronic instruments and computers (hardware and software)
  • Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions and able to lift and transport equipment & supplies over uneven terrain
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication skills
  • Overnight travel may be required
  • Willingness to learn all aspects of surveying

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience utilizing GPS equipment is preferred
  • At least two years of experience using conventional survey equipment
  • Experience reading & interpreting plats and deeds of record
  • Experience recording detailed field notes & the ability to perform basic in-field calculations

Starting pay is $27 - $28 / hour depending upon experience.
