Job description

The Configuration Analyst III is a high-level position responsible for overseeing and managing the configuration of highly complex engineering and manufacturing products using a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. This role involves leading configuration management activities, ensuring compliance with the highest standards, and collaborating with executive management to achieve strategic objectives.The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations - with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the configuration of highly complex engineering and manufacturing products through a PLM system.

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of Product Data, including Parts and Bills of Materials (BoMs).

  • Perform comprehensive audits and verification of product configurations to ensure compliance with the highest customer requirements, company and industry standards.

  • Lead the preparation and documentation required for product structure and configuration management.

  • Direct the configuration change management process, including evaluating, implementing, and tracking complex changes.

  • Collaborate with executive management, engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives and resolve critical configuration issues.

  • Maintain and manage comprehensive records and documentation related to configuration management activities.

  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance configuration management practices.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 6+ years of experience in configuration management or a related field within the aerospace and defense industry.

  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.

  • Expert proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and configuration management principles.

  • Strong attention to detail and superior documentation skills.

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.

  • Understanding of Documentation Control Database systems.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Extensive experience with advanced PLM tools such as PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter, or Dassault Systemes ENOVIA.

  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory and industry standards related to configuration management.

  • Strong familiarity with project management principles and practices.

  • Experience using Project Data Management (PDM)/PLM systems such as Windchill, Enovia 3Dxperience software, and CAD tools such as SOLIDWORKS, Creo, NX, ProEngineer, AutoCAD, CATIA, OrCad, Allegro.

  • Knowledge of industry-standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware and or electrical component selection, fabrication, manufacturing, and production processes.

  • Understanding of the engineering release and control process for all data associated with system, mechanical, electrical, printed circuit board and/or software products.

  • Experience with AS 9100, ISO 9001, EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61, IEEE 828 and/or Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI).

  • Ability to rapidly work on projects involving both small and large Engineering, Operations, and Program Management teams.

  • Skilled in product configuration definition and product structure development.

  • Ability to generate and maintain Product Structures compliant with all product line items required by various Engineering and Operations groups.

  • Certification in Configuration Management disciplines.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods, including proficiency with PLM and other configuration management tools.

  • Manual dexterity for operating computer and related equipment.

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.

  • Must be able to work in an office or hybrid environment.

  • Ability to travel occasionally as required by project needs.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members and stakeholders.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data to make informed decisions.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
