General Notes
UT Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) provides the campus access, mobility, and services through policies that are customer focused, environmentally friendly, and economically sound. Sure Walk https://parking.utexas.edu/transportation/walking is a PTS program that provides non-judgmental assistance to people in the university community that have concerns about their safety while moving across campus late at night. Sure Walk walkers/drivers work in pairs of two and are in regular communication with program coordinators and other staff members during their shift.
Purpose
Staff will walk or drive a university cart or vehicle while accompanying university students, faculty, or staff across campus and into select locations near campus.
Responsibilities
  • Staff will walk or drive a university cart or vehicle while accompanying university students, faculty, or staff across campus and into select locations near campus.
  • Staff will remain in communication with program coordinators and dispatchers, and report information about their location and patrons.
Required Qualifications
  • Staff must be reliable, responsible, and have regular availability.
  • Must maintain an unexpired Texas Driver's License and a clear driving record.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be enrolled at an institution of higher learning and meet enrollment eligibility requirements for a non-academic student position https://hr.utexas.edu/student/eligibility-work
  • Must not be working for another UT dept. or State of Texas dept.
  • Customer service skills are a plus.
Salary Range:
$15/hour
Working Conditions
  • Use of manual dexterity
  • Climbing stairs
  • May work in all weather conditions, including inclement and extreme weather
  • May work around loud noises
  • Some heavy lifting and moving up to 50lbs. may be required
  • Driving a university cart or vehicle
  • Uniform is a PTS shirt & safety vest (provided), and black or khaki pants or shorts
Work Shift
  • Work to be performed in-person, on campus.
  • Variable; Shifts occur between 7:30pm and 2:30am/6:30pm and 2:30am, depending on Daylight Savings Time
