Job Summary

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for engineering, communicating, and maintaining product and system requirements with assigned suppliers. This role leads and coordinates supplier qualification activities, including First Article Inspection (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), to ensure timely delivery of fully qualified products.

The position actively monitors supplier quality performance, conducts performance reviews, and initiates corrective and preventive actions to ensure continuous compliance with aerospace quality standards. The Supplier Quality Engineer serves as the primary quality liaison between the organization and suppliers, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates closely with internal engineering and manufacturing teams. Functional leadership and professional development support are provided by the Supplier Quality Development organization.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review, update, and maintain supplier information in applicable systems to accurately reflect supplier status, onboarding, revisions, removals, and certification data.
  • Generate and manage First Article Inspection packages in accordance with AS9100 requirements.
  • Perform supplier audits and reviews, including onsite and desktop assessments.
  • Coordinate with internal functional teams to resolve and disposition nonconforming materials.
  • Support AS9100 internal, regulatory, certification, and customer audits.
  • Review supplier First Article packages and communicate findings to Supplier Quality Engineers at the designing organization.
  • Maintain frequent communication with suppliers to monitor quality actions and performance.
  • Analyze supplier quality performance metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Manage supplier nonconformance issues, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and closure.
  • Coordinate investigations related to supplier escapes, including containment, root cause, and corrective actions.
  • Issue authorizations for Request for Pre Release or dock to stock for non complex parts and components.
  • Participate in supplier work transfer evaluations and ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Support collaboration with internal Product Quality Engineers regarding supplier performance and feedback.
  • Communicate with Release Agents and monitor their performance.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Supplier Quality and Development teams as required.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (e.g., Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related fields); Equivalent relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 1+ year of experience in manufacturing engineering or production environments.
  • 1+ of one year of experience with aerospace quality requirements, including AS9100 and NADCAP.
  • 1+ of one year of experience in root cause analysis, 8D methodology, and continuous improvement practices.
  • U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior GKN Aerospace experience.
  • Strong organizational and structural work skills with the ability to operate independently and in team environments.
  • Target oriented mindset with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of aerospace products, processes, and manufacturing technologies.
