SCHOOL SPIRIT SPONSOR - COLOR GUARD | FLAGS
JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: School Spirit Sponsor - Color Guard | Flags                FLSA STATUS: Supplemental

LOCATION: Adams City High School                                              ASSIGNMENT: One Year Appointment

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
The School Spirit Sponsor - Color Guard | Flags supports school pride and student engagement through leadership of the spirit flag team. This role includes choreographing dynamic routines, teaching technical flag work, and organizing performances at school and community events. The sponsor fosters a team culture rooted in artistic expression, discipline, collaboration, and inclusion-enhancing the overall spirit experience at Adams City High School.
REQUIREMENTS | SKILLS

Bachelor Degree Preferred
Three Years Successful coaching experience
KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Program Leadership & Instruction 
  • Lead regular flag team practices focused on technique, synchronization, and visual design
  • Choreograph and stage routines to be performed at games, parades, and pep rallies
  • Foster discipline, creativity, and unity among team members
  • Encourage students to grow as performers and leaders
  Event & Spirit Coordination 
  • Coordinate performances at school assemblies, sporting events, community functions, and competitions
  • Select music, themes, and visual elements aligned with school identity and team goals
  • Design and acquire custom spirit flags, props, and uniforms to elevate team presentation
  • Accompany the team to all scheduled events, including away performances and travel-required appearances
  Community & Collaboration 
  • Maintain clear communication with students, families, and school staff
  • Plan and implement team-led fundraising to support operational needs
  • Manage the team's budget responsibly for materials, attire, and equipment
  • Collaborate with student leaders and departments to enhance schoolwide spirit culture
  Eligibility & Compliance 
  • Ensure all student participants meet eligibility standards, including physicals, registration, and fee requirements
  • Monitor academic standing and enforce CHSAA, district, and building-level compliance
  • Work with the Athletic Director to arrange travel, maintain rosters, and fulfill participation protocols

The Color Guard Sponsor models respect, fairness, and professionalism in all settings. They create a performance culture where all students feel included and valued, while promoting high standards of behavior, teamwork, and artistic integrity. The sponsor fosters sportsmanship, handles conflict constructively, and upholds a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination or inappropriate conduct. They lead by example, both in practice and in public.
EVALUATION AND STIPEND DETERMINATION
The site principal or designee will evaluate the fulfillment of duties at the end of the school year. Stipend determination will be based on the completion of the following responsibilities: Practices & Performances
Regular practices held, with quality routines prepared

TRANSPARENCY IN PAY AND BENEFITS
Adams 14 is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits and complies with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. We offer a competitive and comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, financial security, and well-being of our employees. Compensation for this position is paid on Supplemental Schedule 02 - $2,525 per year to $3,768 per year (2025-2026), based on verified experience, qualifications and school level and aligned with the Adams 14 salary schedule.
