We're Hiring: Summer Group Leader (K5)

About Southern Queens Parks Association (SQPA)
Since 1976, SQPA has been dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth, adults, and families in Southern Queens. Our Summer Rising Program at P.S. 35Q Nathaniel Woodhull School offers students enriching, club-like experiences that promote academic achievement and leadership skills. NYC becomes the classroomoffering learning opportunities beyond school walls.

Position: Group Leader (K5)
We're looking for a Group Leader to support K5 students in both academics and enrichment activities. This in-person, seasonal position runs from July 1 - August 14th and offers hands-on experience in education and youth development, with the potential for continued employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise students and ensure a safe, positive environment.
  • Support instruction in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Assist with physical education, visual arts, and performing arts.
  • Promote collaboration through group activities and research projects.
  • Escort students between activities in a timely, orderly manner.
  • Support certified staff with lesson planning and classroom prep.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, and incidents.
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and program evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Program Director.
