About This Role

Old Mission is a global proprietary trading firm that uses cutting-edge technology and research to identify and execute profitable trading strategies across asset classes worldwide, with offices in Chicago, New York, and London.

This 2027 summer internship gives a law student real junior-attorney-level work inside a financial services legal department. You'll work alongside experienced counsel on active matters, get regular feedback, and gain hands-on exposure to the corporate, commercial, and regulatory issues facing a prop trading firm regulated by the SEC, FINRA, CFTC, and FCA.

What You'll Do

  • Review and assist with the firm's commercial agreements and vendor contracts
  • Maintain the firm's contract lifecycle management system
  • Assist with entity formation, foreign qualification, and related corporate governance filings
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research and prepare written summaries
  • Draft corporate documents, agreements, policies, and notices
  • Assist with ongoing regulatory compliance matters
  • Maintain research and regulatory reference materials for the legal team
  • Track and flag relevant industry news and legal or regulatory updates

What We're Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in a U.S. accredited law school, Class of 2028 or 2029, with a strong academic record
  • Law review, journal, or moot court experience is a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in MS Office

Nice to Have

  • Strong performance in Contracts and Legal Writing
  • Familiarity with securities, commodities, or financial services regulation
  • Prior internship or clinic experience in a legal or financial services setting

Pay Range

$30-$35/hr., depending on experience, skills, and qualifications relative to role requirements. This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and Illinois state wage and hour law.
