Job description

We are currently seeking students who have attained Sophomore or Junior Status in Computer Science or Computer Engineering programs to join our Summer Internship program. In addition to technical acumen, we highly value leadership skills as we believe innovation thrives when developers take initiative to make great software.

This position will be a member of our radar simulation team, which develops Radar Toolkit (RTK) product, Aechelon Technology's industry-leading radar simulation application, based in our Farmers Branch, TX office (near Dallas). This role will be paired with a Mentor who will assist in developing new technologies to improve Aechelon's products. This role will have the opportunity to contribute to Aechelon's shipping products and therefore make a lasting impact on our Company and our end users.

United States citizenship required due to restrictions on access to certain data.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining application-level software that simulates airborne radar systems and other sensors for use in a variety of training devices.  The software is written in the C++ programming language on Windows and Linux platforms.  
  • Responsible for performing tasks related to the following areas:
    • Software Design
    • Software Implementation
    • Technical Documentation
    • Team Collaboration
    • Software Integration and Testing

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience programming in C/C++ languages
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with export-controlled technology

DESIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong foundation in mathematics and physics
    • Knowledge of radar technology and signal processing
    • Experience with OpenGL and graphics application programming
    • Background in real-time, multi-processing systems
    • Familiarity with tools for geographic data processing (e.g. KML, vector files, digital elevation models, satellite imagery)
  • Developmental Tools & Practices
    • Experience with defect tracking systems (Bugzilla, Jira)
    • Proficiency with configuration management tools (Preforce, Git)
    • Ability to write clear and concise technical documentation

REQUIRED EDUCATION, ELIGIBILITY AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least two years progress towards a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
