Our Summer IT Department Intern position is a great opportunity for individuals to potentially get more familiar with help desk operations, device imaging & deployment, networking basics, cybersecurity awareness, IT asset management, customer service & technical communication, and educational or enterprise technology systems.

Quick Facts:

Department: Information Technology
Reports To: Director of Technology 
Employment Type: Temporary Summer Internship
Schedule: Seasonal,  Monday - Thursday 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM   (Summer Months). The position will run from June through August (some  flexibility with start/end date is permitted for college students' school schedule)


NOTE: Candidates must be in high school or recent graduates, have the ability to obtain a work permit and provide their own transportation.

Overview:

The Summer IT Intern will support the Information Technology Department with daily technical operations, device management, troubleshooting, and technology projects throughout the summer months. This position provides hands-on experience in a professional IT environment while assisting staff in maintaining efficient and effective technology systems across the organization.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist with setup, deployment, and configuration of laptops, desktops, Chromebooks, printers, and other technology equipment
  • Provide basic technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Help inventory, organize, label, and track technology devices and equipment
  • Support account setup, password resets, and user support requests under supervision
  • Assist with summer technology projects, including system upgrades, device refreshes, and classroom or office technology preparation
  • Install software updates and perform routine maintenance on devices
  • Assist with cable management and workstation setup
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work and assigned tasks
  • Follow all organizational technology, confidentiality, and cybersecurity procedures
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service to staff and users
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Technology Department

Qualifications:

  • High school student, college student, or recent graduate with an interest in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and common technology systems
  • Ability to learn new technology systems quickly
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience troubleshooting Windows, ChromeOS, or Apple devices
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office 365
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts and device management
  • Previous technology support experience preferred but not required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move technology equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to walk between locations and work in office, classroom, or technical environments
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and work at computer stations for extended periods
