What the role is all about:
WinSport is seeking energetic, knowledgeable, and passionate individuals for the role of Summer Hockey Camp Instructor in August. If you have a genuine interest in hockey skill development, youth mentorship, and creating a positive and engaging learning environment, we invite you to apply.
WinSport’s Summer Hockey Camps offer a dynamic onice and office development experience for young athletes. Participants explore skating fundamentals, puck control, passing, shooting, gameplay concepts, and physical literacy activities. Our guiding principles include building confidence, developing core hockey skills, fostering teamwork, and creating meaningful connections through sport.
This summer camp position plays a key role in delivering a highquality, safe, and progressive hockey camp experience for participants ages 4–12. Instructors adapt their coaching approach based on the age, ability, and experience level of campers. Younger groups (ages 4–8) focus on playbased foundational skating and hockey skill development, while older groups (ages 9–12) engage in more structured instruction, skill progression, and gamebased learning.

What you will be doing:
Program Execution
- Adhere to all program policies and procedures, escalating concerns through appropriate channels as required.
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and exceptional experience of participants aged 4–12.
- Support and deliver on-ice drills and stations under the guidance of your group’s Lead Instructor
- Plan, lead, and modify office hockey programming daily, independently as a group leader and collaboratively with fellow staff.
- Build weekly lesson plans supporting strong skill progression and age-appropriate development.
- Set up and tear down equipment on an hourly and daily basis.
- Supervise and instruct groups of up to 12 participants.
- Ensure accurate records including attendance, participant information, and other operational requirements.
Leading Children and Youth
- Serve as a positive role model for young athletes ages 4–12 and for fellow team members.
- Guide participants in developing teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Manage and mediate participant conflicts fairly and consistently.
- Actively participate in games, activities, and demonstrations — bring high energy and enthusiasm.
Communication
- Communicate in a way that empowers campers and team members when delivering feedback.
- Communicate professionally with parents/guardians regarding participant needs, progress, and daily updates.
- Adjust communication style to best fit the age, ability, or context of the audience.
Other Duties as Required
- Support daily logistics, equipment handling, administrative tasks, and camp operations.
- Represent WinSport with professionalism, enthusiasm, and alignment to organizational values.
Employment Dates & Times
- Must be available for training June 29th, June 30th, July 2nd and July 3rd.
- Must be available from August 17th to 28th.
What you bring:
- Strong hockey background including playing, coaching, or instructing.
- Experience working with youth in sport environments.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPRC certification required
- NCCP (Hockey Canada and/or Multisport) certifications considered an asset.
- Experience coaching participants of various ages; experience coaching other sports is an asset.
- Postsecondary education in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Education, Sport Administration, or related fields is an asset.
- Additional background in golf, or mountain biking is considered an asset (program crossover support).
Work Conditions:
- 40–44 hours per week.
- Ability to skate, instruct, and participate in highenergy sport activities for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment as required.
- Ability to work in cold arena environments for long durations.
- Ability to work outside for long periods of time in various weather conditions.
- Maintain a high level of positive energy and focus throughout each camp day.
