Job description

Looking to spend an incredible summer with the kids at Bach To Rock? Bach To Rock ("B2R") America's Music School is currently seeking enthusiastic part-time Summer Music Camp Leaders to help make a positive impact on our music campers. Summer Music Camp Leaders teach groups of young musicians the fundamentals of music, as well as how to collaborate, listen, and work together. Summer camp options include opportunities for students of all ages and skill levels!
Our camps include: Rock Band (ages 7+), Rock City World Tour (ages 3.5-7), Intro to DJ (ages 8+), Beat Making ( ages 8+), and Glee Club (ages 7+)
B2R Summer Camps run weekly from May 30th - August 9th, Monday through Friday from 9am-12:30pm and 12:30pm-4pm.
Summer Music Camp Leaders at Bach to Rock embrace a philosophy of well-balanced music education to inspire students to learn and perform the music they love in a group setting!
Position Responsibilities:
  • Attend and complete camp training, prior to starting camp
  • Lead week-long camps using B2R curriculum activities and song arrangements
  • Create weekly or daily schedules, taking into account children's age groups and interests
  • Guide students in developing their own original music
  • Escort and oversee children in a controlled environment to ensure the campers are safe and well behave
  • Create an encouraging, fun, focused, and age-appropriate learning atmosphere
  • Set up and maintain music equipment and instruments
  • Ensure the school and outdoor spaces are kept clean

Requirements:
  • Must demonstrate a basic understanding of music theory and be able to communicate those concepts to students
  • Multi-instrumentalists are preferred (especially for those interested in teaching Rock Band Camp)
  • Experience using DJ or Music Production software and equipment (for those interested in teaching Intro to DJ and/or Beat Making Camp)
  • Vocal training background (for those interested in teaching Glee Club Camp)
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to keep a group of students on task in a productive rehearsal
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of personalities
  • Experienced performer and band leader/member
  • Experience working with young children (including students of toddler or pre-k age for those interested in teaching Rock City World Tour Camp)
  • Past teaching experience is a plus, most notably in music
  • Ability to interact effectively with both children and adults
  • Ability to pass a background check

B2R offers an hourly rate that is based on education, experience, expertise, and availability.
