Description
Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking a friendly, energetic Summer Event Server to join our team and help create unforgettable experiences for our guests.
In this role, you'll deliver exceptional service at a variety of events, both internal and external, ensuring every guest feels welcomed and well cared for. You'll bring our offerings to life by confidently sharing knowledge of our food and wine, always approaching requests with a "can-do" attitude. Collaboration is key, so being a supportive and reliable team player is essential.
You'll also play an important part behind the scenes by assisting with event setup and breakdown, and helping maintain clean, organized, and polished event spaces and service ware. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and love creating memorable guest experiences, we'd love to have you on board!

Sugar Bowl Resort has been proudly independent for over 80 years and is one of the oldest ski resorts in California. Situated atop beautiful Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl has a storied past with ties to Austrian ski culture, Hollywood and Walt Disney. This special community helped bring skiing to "sunny California" since December 1939. Since then, it continues to attract adventurous winter sports enthusiasts a like.
Who you are
  • 2+ years' experience as a server or bartender in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess basic knowledge of computer operating systems, including POS systems
  • Hold current RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) training
  • Have and maintain a valid California Food Handler certification

What you will do
  • Provide friendly, attentive service while serving food and beverages to guests
  • Assist with banquet and event setup and breakdown, helping bring each event to life
  • Take food and beverage orders with accuracy and a welcoming attitude
  • Support your team by helping expedite food and drinks to ensure smooth service
  • Work across a variety of service styles including buffets, family-style, and plated meals
  • Jump into cocktail service, including unique opportunities like events at the top of Mt. Disney
  • Handle guest service situations with professionalism and care
  • Contribute to all types of catered events, adapting to different settings and needs
  • Ensure all opening and closing checklists are completed to keep operations running smoothly
  • Verify guest identification to ensure responsible alcohol service
  • Help maintain a polished environment through cleaning, polishing, and upkeep of service areas
  • Process credit card transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Safely handle and serve hot food items
  • Show up as a reliable, supportive, and positive team player
  • Be punctual and ready to go in your designated uniform
  • And most importantly... have fun while creating memorable guest experiences!

Physical Requirements:
  • Stand continuously for extended periods (6-8+ hours per shift)
  • Walk and move frequently throughout the workday
  • Sit occasionally as needed during shifts
  • Perform frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and crawling
  • Engage in repetitive hand and arm motions for service tasks
  • Use hands for simple and power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • Reach regularly, including above shoulder level
  • Perform twisting and bending movements of the neck and waist as part of daily tasks
  • Maintain constant awareness using sight, hearing, and smell in a fast-paced environment
  • Utilize sense of taste occasionally as part of food and beverage service support
