Job description

Pay Rate: $17.50/hour
Status: Part Time
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director of Education, plan, organize and conduct classroom for the School’s Out Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Oversee the daily operation during the afterschool hours of 2:30pm-6:00pm at the School's Out program at a given site(s) under the guidance of the supervising director.
  • Paraprofessional duties assigned from the hours of 10:00am-1:45pm at a given school(s).
  • Administrative duties and/or summer camp placement as assigned during the summer months.
  • Adhere to, implement and maintain Department of Early Education amp; Care (EEC) state regulations, including but not limited to required check lists, children, staff, program documentation and staff-to-child ratios.
  • Maintain program enrollment.
  • Support fundraising by participating in the YMCA Annual Campaign; ask members or community partners to support the YMCA.
  • Provide leadership to Group Leaders at an assigned site in the areas of: child supervision, youth programming and parent relationships.
  • Role model acceptable behaviors and decision-making for participants and peers.
  • Actively participate in all related meetings, in-services, trainings and activities.
  • Utilize appropriate guidance and developmental techniques with participants to create an orderly environment that is conducive to learning and child safety.
  • Enforce and support the policies contained in the Y Parent Guide, Behavior Management Guide and Staff Handbook.
  • Implement and expand all Y curriculum and evaluation standards.
  • Build strong, meaningful relationships with families and children in the program as well as the Public School.
  • Submit all required paperwork including lesson and activity plans, attendance, and snack counts on time.
  • Coordinate and submit logistical needs for a site around supplies.
  • Evaluate programs and staff on an ongoing basis and make recommendations for improvements or adjustments.
  • Attend at least 20 hours of Y-provided professional development training per calendar year.
  • Create a monthly newsletter and calendar using Microsoft Office software.
  • Submit attendance weekly by using Excel and Microsoft One Drive.
  • Serve as the key person responsible for child safety and risk mitigation at a given site(s).
  • Plan a well-rounded schedule to include the following components: Health amp; Wellness; Academic Support; 21st Century Skills; Leadership Development; Service Learning; Arts amp; Humanities; Global Learning; Diversity and Inclusion.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associates Degree in any field of study and nine months of experience working with school-age children; or
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience working with school-age children.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in customer service or relations and staff supervision.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certifications or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct complex, critical problem solving independently.
  • Knowledge of and ability to learn appropriate child development techniques.
  • Demonstrated track record of timeliness and punctuality.
