Job description

Second Baptist Church- Summer Internship

  • Purpose and Goals we desire that the Summer Staff who come to work with us at Second Baptist Church will have a new understanding and appreciation of ministry in a large church in a metropolitan area; will discover and use their gifts and abilities to reach people for Jesus Christ; will learn how to work within a team environment to accomplish Kingdom goals; and build relationships that will lead to spiritual growth and development in their own lives, and the lives of those they work with.
  • Function the general responsibilities of our Summer Staff include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • Actively share their faith with those who do not know Christ.
  • Use their unique gifts and abilities to win others to Christ and to encourage them in their faith.
  • Build relationships with adults, students and children.
  • Work as a part of a team to accomplish set goals and objectives throughout the summer.
  • Plan events and activities as needed during the summer.
  • Serve as an adult leader at Childrens camps, Beach Retreats, Vacation Bible School, Single Parent events, etc.
  • Teach and write as needed to support the ongoing ministry of the specific age groups.
  • Do administrative tasks to ensure the success of the programming elements of their assigned ministry area.
  • Attend staff meetings and training times as scheduled.
  • Schedule and Compensation our Summer Staff will serve for 3 months and will be paid $1,000.00 per month while they are working with us. We will provide a Host Home for the students and will take care of any ministry related expenses that are incurred while they serve with us. Summer Staff will have to provide their own transportation while in Houston.
