Job description

Broad Function: To provide elders with routine daily nursing care in accordance with current federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulation governing the facility as well as established nursing home policies and procedures.

Specific Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.

  • Posses the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

  • Possess the ability to deal graciously with personnel, elders, family members, visitors, and the general public.

  • Must have patience, act, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as being willing to handle elders based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.

  • Must have some understanding of social. Psychological and recreational needs of the aged.

  • Must have a sincere desire to work with the aged.

  • Willingness to work harmoniously with other associates.

  • Possesses the ability to seek out new methods and principles and willing to incorporate them into existing programs.

  • Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position.

  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.

  • Must possess sight and hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function.

  • May be required and trained to transport elders who need personal assistance; lifting of equipment, supplies and furniture, weighing 50+ pounds may also be required

  • Vaccinations must be up-to-date and proof provided prior to hire
