Job description

2026 Summer Camp – Camp Medic – Camp Dean - This position may live on or off site.

Locations: Camp Dean, Big Rock, IL

Job Duration: Summer – May 26 – August 2, 2026

Salary: $700 Weekly

Application Deadline: Open until filled.

Summary: Camp Medic is responsible for overall health and safety of camp staff and campers during our summer camp program. The expectation is to provide an exciting, fun, and memorable experience for campers and staff. Also responsible for general sanitation and safety practices throughout camp.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in camper check-in process for health screening.
  • Administer medication, first aid, and address camper health concerns.
  • Take inventory, resupply, and maintain first aid equipment as necessary throughout camp.
  • Monitor health of incoming campers, collect health reviews, and is responsible for all medical documentation Notify staff members of health precautions of campers (and staff) when indicated.
  • Develop sound relationships with staff, campers, and parents as needed regarding medical care.
  • Conduct daily checks of equipment for safety, cleanliness, and inventory.
  • Assist in unit housekeeping, sanitation, care of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in supervision of campers to cover for other camp staffs’ breaks.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Be 21+ years old
  • EMT, nursing student, RN, LPN, WFR/WFA, or physician with current First Aid/CPR/AED certifications
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid
  • Understanding of current and upcoming medical knowledge, treatment, and breakthroughs
  • Ability to maneuver through camp without assistance and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in working with children preferred


Additional Requirements:

  • Be guided in all actions by the Girl Scout Mission, Promise, and Law.
  • Be a registered member of Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) and have passed a background check.
  • Must accept the principles and beliefs of Girl Scouting and comply with the most current policies, procedures, and guidelines of GSNI and GSUSA.
  • Complete required training as assigned and provided by GSNI and GSUSA.

Required to attend:

  • All check-in and check-out
  • All camp activities such as games, campfire, and special events
  • All meals, including packouts in units
