About Us
Colorado International Language Academy (CILA) is a unique international charter school offering language immersion (50% in 1st-5th grades) in three world languages-Mandarin Chinese, German, and Spanish. Our students not only learn math and language literacy, but also gain insight into cultural aspects of their target language, fostering a GLOBAL perspective. At CILA, students develop essential 21st-century skills by exploring diverse cultures, gaining respect and understanding, and preparing to live and work in a global community.
Position Overview:
We are seeking passionate and dedicated substitute teachers for the 2024/25 school year who can step in and support our students' learning when full-time teachers are unavailable. Substitute teachers play a vital role in maintaining the continuity of learning and creating a positive, engaging classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction in place of regular classroom teachers, following the teacher's lesson plans or, if necessary, adapting plans to meet the needs of students.
- Support English language literacy, including reading comprehension, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and writing, for elementary students.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
- Supervise students in various settings including classrooms, recess, lunchtime, and during transitions.
- Maintain classroom routines and support students with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Collaborate with staff and follow school protocols for instructional support and behavior management.
- Escort students to and from different locations as needed (e.g., lunchroom, playground, etc.).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher (Education degree preferred, but not required).
- Experience working with diverse student populations is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to escort and supervise students in various settings.
- Ability to stand for long periods and engage in physical activity, including stooping, kneeling, and supervising outdoor activities.
- Comfortable with varied weather conditions during outdoor supervision.
