Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone Orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.

Summary: The Sr. Manager, Knowledge Management, will lead knowledge strategies and operations that enable timely, reproducible, and compliant access to medical, clinical, and scientific evidence across the organization. This role is the primary owner of the Orthopaedics University learning program and supervises the Literature services, aligning knowledge services with Medical and Scientific Affairs priorities, and driving crossfunctional adoption.

Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute a knowledge management strategy that transforms the culture of learning and scientific proficiency across clinical, medical, and scientific stakeholders.
  • Provides leadership and represent knowledge management in cross-functional steering groups, governance forums, and change programs.
  • Ensure continuity of knowledge services and maintain institutional memory through planned transition activities related to organizational separations.

Orthopaedics University (learning program) ownership & development

  • Own strategy, governance, and operational delivery of the Orthopaedics University learning program for clinical and scientific audiences. Drive development, curation, and quality assurance of curriculum, learning modules, and resource libraries to build clinical and scientific proficiency. Expand program reach and engagement per organizational targets, define metrics, tracking, and outreach plans to meet those milestones. Lead program-level activities required to support organizational separation or reorganization. Coordinate with regional Orthopaedics medical & scientific teams to align content, training priorities, and faculty participation; drive collaboration and regional rollouts. Establish measures of program impact (enrollment, completion, satisfaction, changes in competency or practice) and deliver regular reports to stakeholders.

Literature Searching, Publisher engagement, copyright & licensing

  • Own publisher engagement and coordinate licensing, copyright/re-use requests, and subscription terms. Oversee journal/subscription strategy and coordinate closely with procurement, legal, and licensing contacts to resolve access or entitlement issues. Set standards and oversight for reproducible literature searches and evidence retrieval used by Medical and Scientific Affairs. Ensure availability of high-priority evidence, alerts, and concise summaries to support clinical, safety, and regulatory needs

Leadership & cross-functional engagement

  • Manage Library Services Manager and literature search contractors; set SLAs, priorities, and quality expectations. Serve as a senior partner to Medical Affairs, Clinical, Safety, Regulatory and Commercial stakeholders to translate needs into learning and evidence products.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required; MD, PA, RN, MSN, MS, PharmD, PhD degree preferred
  • 8+ years in Medical Affairs, Medical Excellence, Medical Knowledge or related roles in the medical device or lifescience industry with demonstrated crossfunctional leadership
  • Experience designing and delivering training or curriculum for clinicians or scientific audiences
  • Experience in a regulated environment (pharmaceuticals or medical device) supporting systematic reviews or evidence dossiers
  • Experience implementing or supporting in-house or third-party platforms for systematic literature searching, evidence surveillance, or learning management systems
  • Prior experience negotiating with publishers or managing copyright/re-use workflows
  • Strategic leadership for knowledge and learning programs
  • Strong stakeholder management across Medical Affairs, Clinical, Regulatory, and Commercial teams
  • Comfortable with evidence and literature concepts; able to set standards for reproducible searches and interpret usage/impact metrics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to produce concise, actionable summaries for leaders

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation -120 hours per calendar year
