Job description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Review project contracts to understand requirements including timelines, budget, safety, quality, staffing, materials, and equipment needs.
  • Liaise and coordinate with designers, technical teams, and clients on all technical aspects.
  • Analyze project designs, technical reports, and background information.
  • Develop and implement execution plans detailing construction staging, workplans, materials, subcontracting, and equipment needs.
  • Coordinate with discipline managers to ensure proper construction sequencing and staging.
  • Provide technical assistance and recommend effective construction methods and equipment.
  • Manage quantity take-offs, bills of quantities, and scope development for civil, earthworks, and wet utilities.
  • Oversee project execution to meet design, budget, and schedule goals, taking proactive steps to mitigate risks.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, including managing expectations, progress reports, and communication.
  • Monitor and ensure efficient use of materials, equipment, and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Oversee onsite activities, quality, productivity, progress, and safety of teams and subcontractors.
  • Address potential roadblocks proactively and resolve any arising issues.
  • Implement and monitor safety programs.
  • Manage requests for information and issue field instructions as needed.
  • Prepare comprehensive progress reports.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience with a major general contractor managing large, complex projects.
  • Completion of post-secondary education in civil engineering or a related field is required.
  • Project experience working on Major Projects is required
  • PMP or relevant certification is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute projects within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and applying contract law and language.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Excel, MS Projects, Word, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam.
  • Strong technical, communication, organizational, managerial, and planning skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal abilities.
