The Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing accounting for projects, including maintenance of the general ledger and the month-end close process. They work closely with the Program Management team in areas including budget and forecast preparation, project financial analysis, and development of internal control policies and procedures.


  • Performs daily and monthly accounting processes including journal entries, account reconciliations and general ledger transactions.
  • Prepares monthly client invoicing in coordination with the Program Management team.
  • Enters subcontractor accounts payable invoices and manage needed cash disbursements.
  • Assists in the preparation and analysis of financial information in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepares routine financial reports and ad-hoc reports for operational review and decision making.
  • Provides analysis and recommendations to senior leadership by analyzing project financial performance, analyzing budget variances, and ensuring compliance.
  • Assists with submission of information and necessary communication with internal and external auditors and respond appropriately to auditor comments and recommendations.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience.
  • Intermediate level skills in Adobe, Excel and other MS Office tools.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Experience with mid-large size engineering/construction organization.
  • CPA license.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of US GAAP.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within short deadlines.
  • High-level analytic skills.
Travel Requirements
  • 0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
