JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Assistant to join our team and assist with our graduate recruitment efforts. As a Graduate Assistant, you will play a crucial role in attracting and advising prospective students about our graduate programs. Your primary responsibility will be to provide excellent customer service by answering inquiries and guiding prospective students through the admission process, requirements, and career outlook with a graduate degree. You will interact with prospective students via phone, email, text message, live chat, and video.
DUTIES
  • Provide exceptional customer service to prospective graduate students by promptly responding to inquiries via phone, email, text message, live chat, and video.
  • Assist prospective students with questions regarding the admission process, requirements, deadlines, program details, and career opportunities associated with our graduate programs.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all graduate programs offered, including program prerequisites, curriculum, faculty, and any program-specific requirements.
  • Effectively communicate the benefits and advantages of pursuing a graduate degree at UTRGV, highlighting unique features and opportunities.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments and information sessions for prospective students, ensuring a seamless and positive experience.
  • Collaborate with the Graduate Recruitment team to organize and participate in recruitment events, such as graduate fairs, information sessions, and webinars.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of recruitment materials, including brochures, presentations, and website content.
  • Maintain accurate records of prospective student interactions and inquiries using the appropriate customer relationship management (CRM) tools.
  • Assist with other graduate recruitment duties as assigned, which may include data entry, administrative tasks, or support during recruitment campaigns.

  • Must be a full-time graduate student
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse individuals.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a passion for helping others.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Be able to work in-person on the Edinburg Campus between the hours of Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends, as required by recruitment events.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
