Job description

Human Resources announces a 1.0 FTE Educational Administrative Assistant, G-07, 208 days, position located at Arlington Science Focus Elementary School.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED, supplemented by coursework in business and office practices, with a minimum of two years of responsible clerical experience, preferably in an educationrelated setting.
  • Excellent human relations skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels, including colleagues, students, parents, and the public, in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Demonstrated excellence in business English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
     

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Knowledge of business and school office procedures, practices, and equipment, as well as business English and standard office terminology.
  • Knowledge of the operation, uses, and capabilities of computer equipment and APSutilized software systems (e.g., Synergy, Frontline, and STARS+), along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and related applications.
     

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Performs one or more sets of the following: may not include all duties performed; not all incumbents perform all essential functions delineated:  

  • Performs a full range of entrylevel to fully proficient administrative support and secretarial duties to support the instructional program, assisting school administration, teachers, and overall school operations as assigned.
  • Serve as receptionist; greets all visitors, answers phone, distributes mail, etc.
  • Composes routine correspondence: may prepare information and presentation packets as needed.
  • Organize and maintain files.

Incumbent will be assigned specific responsibilities at the work site to support the instructional program and general school operation: 

  • Maintain complex student records.
  • Assist the special education process.
  • May serve as the Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Principal or Director of Counseling.
  • Support specific instructional staff.
  • May perform Attendance, Registration, and STARS Finance tasks.
  • Ability to dispense medications to students when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
