Job description

 STUDENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

JOB GOAL

Responsible for the collection, storage and reporting of student data from the enrollment process through reporting to the Arizona Department of Education. The Student Information Systems Specialist is a standalone classification. The Student Information Systems Specialist is distinguished from other classifications by its responsibility for total understanding of all student processing functionality in working with the Synergy Student Information System

QUALIFICATIONS

Training and Experience (position requirements at entry):

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.),
  • Two years of specialized training with student information processing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with others of varying technical abilities.
  • Ability to act individually and as a team member in resolving problems and completing projects on time and within budget.
  • Possession of good customer service skills with a positive and helpful attitude.
  • Any combination of education and experience relative to the above qualifications as the Governing Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in the setup, maintenance and support of all student data within the Synergy Student Information System.
  • Assists in the collection, validation, submission, verification and reconciliation of student information data through the Arizona Department of Education
  • Provides documentation, troubleshooting / problem resolution, training, and support for all district office and school staff.
  • Prepares and distributes weekly / monthly enrollment reports
  • Responsible for the internal auditing of student absence and entry / withdrawal information
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Preferred Knowledge of:
    • Macintosh and Windows based environments;
    • Synergy SIS student enrollment and absence reporting;
    • Edulink Parent Notification System (AutoDialer);
    • Working knowledge of Arizona Department of Education Student Accountability Information System (SAIS);
    • Other Federal and State education reporting requirements
  • Preferred Skills in:
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2010, specifically Excel;
    • Ability to troubleshoot and improve upon existing student information system;
    • Using computers and related software applications;
    • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
