This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Skills Hub Supervisor who will be all-in on our mission and who is responsible for assisting with the coordination, supervision, and daily operations of the Nursing Skills Hub. This position supports the planning, organization, and implementation of lab-based learning activities designed to reinforce student competency in foundational nursing skills. The Skills Hub Supervisor works closely with nursing faculty, staff, and students to ensure that instructional activities align with course objectives and program outcomes.
This role helps maintain a safe, organized, and fully operational learning environment by ensuring that lab equipment, supplies, and instructional materials are available and properly maintained. The Skills Hub Supervisor also assists with scheduling, training, and supervising part-time staff and student workers who support Skills Hub operations. The position plays an important role in promoting student success by supporting hands-on skill development, maintaining compliance with safety standards and clinical practices, and ensuring that Skills Hub resources are effectively utilized to support the educational mission of the Nursing program.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited baccalaureate nursing program or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), or demonstrated progression toward an MSN Degree.
CREDENTIALS:
Required: Current, active, and unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: One (1) year of recent clinical experience as a staff nurse in an acute care setting.
Preferred: Three (3) or more years of clinical experience as a staff nurse in an acute care setting. Experience supporting clinical instruction, simulation labs, or nursing skills laboratories.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with the oversight and coordination of daily operations within the Skills Hub, including scheduling, preparation, and facilitation of lab-based learning activities.
  • Supervise, train, and provide guidance to part-time staff and student workers assigned to the Skills Hub, including assisting with scheduling and monitoring work performance.
  • Collaborate with nursing faculty to ensure Skills Hub activities support course objectives, clinical competencies, and program learning outcomes.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain Skills Hub spaces for instructional use, including setup and breakdown of lab stations and equipment.
  • Ensure the availability, proper functioning, and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and instructional materials used in the Skills Hub.
  • Monitor inventory levels of lab supplies and materials; assist with ordering and restocking supplies to support ongoing operations.
  • Support students as they practice nursing skills in individual or small-group learning environments, reinforcing proper technique and safe practices when appropriate.
  • Promote compliance with clinical standards, infection control procedures, and patient safety practices during all Skills Hub activities.
  • Maintain security, organization, and accountability of all Skills Hub equipment, supplies, and instructional resources.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized learning environment that supports effective instruction and student engagement.
  • Assist with documenting and reporting student incidents, injuries, or safety concerns in accordance with departmental and college procedures.
  • Communicate updates related to lab procedures, skills competencies, equipment use, and operational changes to faculty and staff as appropriate.
  • Support implementation of departmental, institutional, and accreditation-related policies and procedures related to nursing skills instruction.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training activities, and professional development opportunities as appropriate.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and/or maneuver office supplies up to twenty-five (25) pounds as needed.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary).
Work Environment: This position operates primarily within a clinical skills laboratory and professional educational environment. The employee routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copiers, as well as specialized nursing simulation and instructional equipment. The work environment may include high student traffic and frequent interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and other instructional or simulation-related applications.
