Job Description

The Student Assistants serve as support staff to the Campus Activities and Student Engagement office, which in turn services approximately 200 student organizations and the UWSP community for employment opportunities. Daily responsibilities include assisting individuals at the service desk, directing incoming telephone calls, and completing other duties as assigned.

All staff members are required to assist at CASE-sponsored events outside of the normal scope of position duties; it is expected that each staff member will work additional hours throughout the semester to ensure adequate staff coverage at these events.

This position reports to the CASE Operations Student Manager. They are responsible to the Student Employment Coordinator and Payroll Coordinator for the University Centers.

The University Centers Student Employment Program Wage Classification Scale classifies this position as Division I, Range I.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must be eligible for Federal Work-Study at the time of hiring and throughout employment.

Applicants must be available to work a minimum of 8 hours per week during the semester and attend meetings and events as necessary, including occasional evening and weekend commitments.

Students applying for this position must pass a Criminal Background Check initiated by the University Centers.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel is preferred, but not required.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with at least two semesters remaining at UWSP.

Education

The Student Assistant must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in a minimum of 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher) at the time of hiring and throughout employment.
