Job description

Description:

STS Metals is a unified organization composed of five businesses working together to deliver high-quality titanium, stainless and alloy steel and nickel products. We proudly serve the aerospace, medical, industrial, and space industries with a commitment to innovation, manufacturing excellence, and superior customer service.

Principal Duties:

As a 2nd Shift Saw Operator at Sierra Alloys, you’ll be responsible for cutting material to precise specifications using industrial sawing equipment. This role is critical to ensuring material is accurately sized, safely handled, and ready for the next step in the manufacturing process. The schedule for this position is typically 2:45pm to 11:15pm with option for overtime.

You’ll set up and operate sawing equipment, measure and verify cut dimensions, record production results, and maintain a clean and safe work area. Attention to detail, consistency, and a strong focus on safety are essential, as your work directly impacts downstream operations, quality, and efficiency.

This is a hands-on role in an active manufacturing environment and a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys precision work and wants to build or grow a career in manufacturing.

Accurate cuts set the foundation for everything that follows. Saw Operators ensure material is prepared correctly from the start, helping prevent waste, rework, and delays throughout the operation.

This role requires focus, accuracy, and comfort working around heavy materials and cutting equipment. You’ll be standing for long periods, handling material, and expected to meet tight tolerances while following strict safety procedures.

It’s worth it because your work makes the rest of the process possible. You’ll develop valuable manufacturing skills, gain experience with precision equipment, and have opportunities to cross-train and advance into operator, lead, or technical roles over time. The work is straightforward, the expectations are clear, and the impact of your effort is immediate.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Must have knowledge of saws, blades, guards, feeding devices and coolant flow.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, basic blueprints, and measuring tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with commitment to quality.
  • Ability to operate forklift (certification preferred).
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs., bend, stand, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or shifts as needed.

We offer benefits designed to support you at work and at home:

  • Medical: Choice of Kaiser or Anthem, with the company covering a generous portion of the employee contribution on the base plan, plus the option to choose from multiple plan levels
  • Dental & Vision: Company-sponsored coverage, including a base dental plan with buy-up options and vision coverage
  • Retirement: 401(k) with up to a 6% company contribution
  • Wellness: Monthly wellness program with opportunities to participate and earn monthly raffle prizes
  • Education: Tuition reimbursement to support continued learning and career development
  • Time Off: Paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, vacation, and sick time
  • Stability & Support: Year-round operation, clear expectations, and leadership and HR support
