Lead the Future of Cardiovascular Care at University Health

University Health is seeking an experienced, visionary healthcare executive to serve as our Vice President of Cardiovascular Services. This executive leadership role is responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence, and continued growth of one of the region's premier cardiovascular service lines.

The Vice President provides executive oversight across the full continuum of cardiovascular care, including cardiac surgery, diagnostic and interventional cardiology, vascular services, electrophysiology, LVAD, non-invasive procedures, outpatient cardiovascular services, and future heart transplant initiatives. This leader will partner closely with executive leadership, physician leaders, and UT Health San Antonio's cardiac and cardiothoracic practices to advance innovative, high-quality cardiovascular care throughout South Texas.

Position Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic planning, operational performance, and long-term growth of the Cardiovascular Service Line.
  • Develop and execute initiatives that enhance patient access, expand cardiovascular programs, and strengthen market presence.
  • Manage multi-million-dollar operating budgets while ensuring fiscal accountability and identifying opportunities for sustainable growth.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, physicians, and clinical teams to improve quality, patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and service excellence.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators to measure clinical, financial, and operational success.
  • Provide executive leadership for electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, structural heart, general cardiology, Congestive Heart Failure, LVAD, and future heart transplant initiatives while supporting STS database reporting and specialty program development.
  • Lead accreditation efforts, including Chest Pain Center designation, and chair key cardiovascular steering committees.
  • Build strong relationships with referring physicians, regional healthcare organizations, emergency medical services, and community partners to strengthen referral networks and collaborative care.
  • Lead physician recruitment, business development, and marketing strategies that support continued service line growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, employee engagement, and leadership development.
  • Represent University Health through community outreach initiatives, educational programs, health fairs, and regional organizations such as the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council (STRAC).
Why University Health

At University Health, our mission is to improve the good health of the community through high-quality, compassionate patient care, innovation, education, and discovery. We are committed to advancing cardiovascular medicine through exceptional clinical care, strategic partnerships, innovative programs, and a relentless focus on quality outcomes.

If you are a collaborative executive leader with a passion for transforming cardiovascular care and leading high-performing teams, we invite you to join an organization dedicated to excellence and serving our community.

  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in cardiovascular services or hospital administration, including operational and financial oversight.
