About the Role:
The Stryker Combat Vehicle Mechanic provides essential daily maintenance support to the Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Fort Carson. This critical role ensures the operational readiness and reliability of the Stryker Combat Vehicles, which are vital to the brigade's mission success. Responsibilities include conducting routine inspections, performing diagnostics, and executing timely repairs to address any mechanical issues.
Position Description:
  • Perform trouble shooting on Stryker Family of Vehicles for specific faults, failures, and deficiencies. 
  • Ability to utilize download equipment to transfer and read data to manage software configuration. 
  • Understand and describe acronyms related to turret and related LRU systems. 
  • Identify parts through IETM, Schematics and cross reference based on vehicle configuration. 
  • Perform preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on family of “Stryker” Vehicles. 
  • Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions in automotive systems (power-pack) engine, transmission, cooling, fuel, exhaust, driveline, and suspension using built in test equipment (BITE), test equipment and/or manual troubleshooting procedures (MTPs), common and special tools and applicable technical documentation. 
  • Repair sub-systems and components, line replacement units (LRU’s) of the “Stryker”. Perform maintenance steps to accomplish repairs will include disassembling, removing, and replacing worn/ damaged/defective part(s), adjusting, reassembling, and testing using applicable technical documentation. 
  • Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions in hydraulic systems common to all “Stryker” or unique to variants of the “Stryker” vehicle. 
  • Complete maintenance and administrative forms and other paperwork related to performance of duties. 
  • Skilled in computer operation and Microsoft operating systems. (Word, EXCEL and Power-point) 
  • Maintain accountability of special tools, test equipment and property and ensuring proper use of personnel protective equipment as deemed appropriate. 
 
Position Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of mechanical experience performing maintenance on tactical/combat vehicles, with Stryker heavy vehicle experience preferred (91B, 91S, 63S, 63W or 63B MCMLAV III desirable.
  • Documented commercial training and/or experience acceptable in lieu of military vehicle experience
  • Occasional work in confined space within vehicle interior.
    Work in improved and unimproved maintenance facilities as well as field environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and organize/prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a collaborative structure to include field, office, and shop environments both on and off military installations.
  • Must be able to foster and enhance teaming environment
  • Working knowledge with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, & Power Point.
  • Proven ability to perform multiple tasks within multiple work stations.
  • Demonstrated good housekeeping skills and ability to convey such practices to team members.
  • Ability to work extensive extended hours in a fast paced, challenging, high pressure environment.
  • Must be able to gain and maintain access to Ft. Carson and other military bases assigned to or where work is to be performed.
  • Must meet and maintain ASR guidelines for driver's station entry as described in Standard Practice 2-644.
  • Ability to maintain US Passport required
  • Ability to be issued and maintain a Class B CDL
  • Ability to be issued and maintain company AMEX card required
  • Ability to deploy where and when needed to support fielding missions CONUS and OCONUS required
  • Must be a U.S. person  
  • Ability to gain and maintain Secret Clearance if applicable  
  • Must be able to lift or carry up to 50lbs 
 
What we Offer:
  • Position Hourly Rate: $31.54, internal applicants are eligible for experience premium.  
  • Position Incentive: Hired applicant may be eligible to receive an annual bonus.
  • Benefits Offered: Employees and their eligible dependents are offered medical, dental, vision, life and accident insurance plans, disability insurance plans, health spending account, flexible spending account, 401(k) retirement plan and tuition reimbursement. Employees may be eligible for the SCA Health & Welfare Benefit hourly rate, which will vary, based on the employee’s choice of benefit elections. The SCA Health & Welfare Benefit hourly rate ranges from $0.00 to $5.09.
 
Employees are also eligible to receive 6.66 hours of vacation per month, 56 hours of sick time per year and 11 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
