Job description

ABOUT HUT 8
Imagine the ultimate destination for those who want to work at the cutting edge of technology, energy, and infrastructure. Hut 8 is on a mission to build and operate some of the world's largest data centers for next-generation computing workloads, including AI, Colocation, Cloud, and Bitcoin Mining. We are proud to offer interesting and challenging opportunities for individuals who want to build teams, solve problems, and make an impact from day one. If you're an ambitious individual looking for a career that is as rewarding as it is challenging, you've come to the right place.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Director, Strategic Finance, you will spearhead the financing and capital markets strategy that funds the company's infrastructure growth and long-term financial plan. You will help shape the funding roadmap, manage transactions from origination through close, and serve as a key contributor to how the company raises and deploys capital.
You will work within a high-performing Strategic Finance team, help build and manage relationships with banks, investors, and capital partners, and support the capital-structure decisions that underpin the company's growth. This is a high-visibility role for an experienced finance professional who can both contribute to strategy and drive execution.
Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:
  • Capital Strategy & Funding Plan: Support the development of the company's financing strategy and funding roadmap across equity, debt, lease, and hybrid capital, helping align the capital plan with growth and infrastructure objectives.
  • Transaction Execution: Manage financing and capital-raising transactions from origination through close, including supporting negotiation of pricing, structure, and key terms with lenders, investors, and sponsors.
  • Capital Markets & Investor Relationships: Help build and maintain relationships with banks, credit investors, and financial sponsors, supporting the company's positioning in the market and engagement on new financing structures.
  • Financial Modeling & Decision Frameworks: Build and maintain the analytical frameworks behind capital decisions - cost of capital, leverage capacity, liquidity, and downside resilience - and prepare the conclusions presented to leadership.
  • Investment Committee & Board Support: Develop financing and capital-allocation analyses and prepare recommendations for presentation to the investment committee and board.
  • Team Development: Mentor junior analysts and associates, helping elevate the quality of analysis and execution across the team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with colleagues across legal, accounting, tax, operations, and corporate development to support alignment behind capital decisions.
  • Materials & Documentation: Prepare lender presentations, internal decision materials, and committee decks, maintain closing documentation trackers, and support post-close handoff into covenant compliance and bank reporting.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Effectively supporting the organization in an organized, well-controlled and timely execution of capital raising and corporate structuring projects.
  • Contributing to internal and external presentations with comprehensive and clear analysis.
  • Capital is raised on competitive terms and ahead of the company's growth needs.
  • The funding strategy and capital structure are well-positioned, resilient, and clearly understood by leadership and the board.
  • Strong, durable relationships with core lenders, investors, and sponsors enable speed and optionality in execution.
  • Your analysis and execution consistently meet a decision-grade standard.

ABOUT YOU
  • 5+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, private credit, project or infrastructure finance, with hands-on involvement in transactions from origination through close.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the structuring and negotiation of complex financings across equity and/or debt solutions
  • Extensive sector experience in one or more of the following sectors: infrastructure, power, data centers, compute and real estate
  • Experience working within deal teams and supporting relationships with banks, investors, and sponsors.
  • Excellent financial modeling and valuation skills, with the ability to build analytical frameworks and pressure-test analysis.
  • Strong familiarity with financing instruments such as credit facilities, term loans, or securitizations.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with senior leadership, the board, and external capital partners.
  • Comfortable working directly with banks, investors, and outside counsel and consultants in support of live transactions.
  • A strategic thinker who also drives hands-on execution in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT
