POSITION SUMMARY
The Welder is responsible for understanding structural blueprints and welding techniques to execute the highest standards of welding performance.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
ยทInterpret blueprints to fabricate structural steel
ยทDetermine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
ยทOperate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
ยทWeld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
ยทSet up components for welding equipment in accordance to specifications (e.g. cut material with oxy/fuel torch to match measurements)
ยทTest and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
ยทMaintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
ยทEnsure work is done safely and meets quality standards
ยทKeep work areas clean and organized
REQUIREMENTS:
ยทProven experience as welder
ยทExperience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (flux-core, MIG weld)
ยทExperience in using electrical or manual tools (grinder, squares, tape measure, hand tools)
ยทAbility to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
ยทKnowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
ยทAttention to detail
ยทAbility to learn safe overhead crane operations
ยทProficient in English
ยทProfessional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent
Prior experience using overhead cranes is preferred
Prior experience in a similar role is preferred
OTHER SKILLS
Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; good judgment; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to work effectively with others. While performing certain duties of the job, the employee is required to squat, bend, twist, lift, pull, and reach. Lifting is required up to 75 lbs. Must be flexible in hours worked and willing to work overtime.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position performs work mostly in the shop setting which includes a variety of working conditions. These include the following conditions: noise level fluctuations from moderate to high, use of personal protective equipment, machine/equipment use. Position involves everyday risks or exposure to elements that require safety precautions. Position will be required to work in adverse weather conditions such as heat, humidity, cold, precipitation, etc.
