POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Structural Engineer (Level IV) plays a key role in the successful execution of projects. This individual will provide technical and engineering excellence, as well as successful delivery of work to our customers. The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and managed – both externally and internally. The successful candidate will also contribute to a dynamic team environment by being proactive, communicating clearly to all stakeholders, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment. This person will also actively support the business development process, through the writing of proposals and meeting with prospective and current customers.

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Serve as the discipline lead for multiple concurrent projects; performing engineering calculations, overseeing drawing development, delegating design tasks, resource planning, completing quality assurance reviews and mentoring.
  • Act as the Engineer of Record on assigned projects.
  • Lead effective project execution by developing scope estimates, and ensuring all work remains within scope and adheres to budget (labor, expenses, and subcontractors).
  • Create project plans and schedules for execution of work.
  • Oversee the production of construction documents including drawings and specifications, ensuring that sound structural engineering principles are consistently applied.
  • Coordinate work with internal and external stakeholders, providing technical support and direction to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
  • Supervise direct reports, including engineers and designers, providing performance guidance, workload direction, and ongoing support.
  • Provide work direction to team members and subcontractors, offering technical and engineering support across departments as needed.
  • Mentor, teach, and support the professional growth of developing structural team members.
  • Participate in all aspects of business development, including proposal preparation, client meetings, and interviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Design.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification in multiple states, or the willingness to pursue the P.E. designation and obtain multi‑state registrations within one year of employment.
  • Strong structural design experience across a variety of industries and materials.
  • Experience using structural analysis software (RISA or similar).
  • Demonstrated consistency in successful combination of design and/or project management.
  • Possess an understanding of Process, Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, and Civil Engineering construction practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application , including MS Office.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Represent the company in a professional matter.
  • Travel: May include some domestic travel, likely 5% or less, 1 to 2 days in duration.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Structural Engineer (S.E.) certification.
  • Experience working with industrial, agribusiness or processing building designs.

Salary Range: $118,000 - $148,000 annually. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual qualifications, experience, work location, and education. This position is eligible for an annual bonus.
