Job description

The Intermediate Structural Engineer supports the design and execution of the structural designs for industrial projects and works closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient and cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design steel and concrete structures and foundations for industrial systems.
  • Develop conceptual designs resulting in optimal layouts and reduced costs.
  • Review and provide structural input on mechanical drawings, layouts, and vendor proposals.
  • Prepare calculations, hand and /or CAD sketches, and direct designers in developing project drawings.
  • Review structural shop drawings and provide engineering support during construction.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinate with internal teams.
  • Travel to project sites as needed

Leadership Responsibilities
  • Lead portions of projects by developing the designs and coordinating with engineers and 3D designers.
  • Under the direction of the Chief Engineer; lead assigned projects as the Structural Lead Engineer.
  • Review work (calculations, models, drawings) and provide feedback.
  • Responsible for the quality of assigned projects, including adherence to PENTA standards, budgets and schedule.
  • Assist with estimates and change orders.
  • Act as Engineer of Record (as licensed) and support department management when needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in structural engineering (industrial project experience preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or must be actively pursuing
  • Good knowledge of current codes - AISC (Steel), ACI (Concrete), and ASCE 7
  • Good knowledge of SAP2000, RISA-3D and STAAD.Pro
  • Working knowledge of Revit for BIM coordination
