Chemical Strip Operator

Role Overview

Independently read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and equipment methods and sequences.

Operate stripping and thermal spray equipment in a shop environment while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and preset tools for stripping and coating operations and perform safety checks on equipment and chemical tanks.

Load and unload parts into chemical tanks and monitor stripping processes.

Mask parts using designated internal and external methods.

Verify fixture setup meets specifications for dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards.

Install, align, and secure tooling, attachments, and parts on machines.

Operate equipment, load control media, and execute or retrieve programmed instructions.

Adjust machine controls and monitor operations to detect malfunctions and ensure compliance with specifications.

Measure parts and adjust equipment to maintain conformance to blueprint requirements.

Manually operate equipment when needed and troubleshoot process issues.

Record operational data and maintain accurate documentation.

Handle hazardous materials properly, including labeling, disposal, and spill containment.

Participate in hazardous waste and safety training and notify appropriate personnel of new materials.

Clean equipment, tools, and parts and perform preventative maintenance.

Follow company safety policies and contribute to a positive team environment.

Communicate effectively and support departmental and organizational goals.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and at least three (3) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret instructions, blueprints, and technical documents.

Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using various units of measure.

Ability to apply reasoning and solve problems in standardized situations.

Ability to communicate effectively in individual and small group settings.

Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Willingness to work in environments with noise, moving mechanical parts, and exposure to chemicals.

Availability to support flexible schedules, including extended hours or weekends as needed.
