PRODUCTION DIRECTOR

JOB TITLE: Production Director
REPORTS TO: Worship Arts Pastor
HOURS/WEEK: Full-Time
FSLA DESIGNATION: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: The Production Director is responsible for overseeing technical aspects of church programs such as services and special events, ensuring that all video, camera/live streaming and lighting systems function smoothly to enhance the worship experience. There will also be occasional audio responsibilities during Sunday services and special events/programs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of technology, creativity, and a passion for ministry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Technical Oversight:
  • Manage and maintain all lighting, video, and live streaming systems within the church.
  • Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and up-to-date with the latest technology.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during services and events promptly.
  • Assess current video/lighting needs and build out an infrastructure that enhances the “house” and helps pave the way for the future.
  • Direct live video feeds for in-person screens and online streaming.
  • Oversee all audio, video, lighting, and streaming systems
  • Ensure all systems are service-ready, reliable, and optimized for live environments
2. Team Leadership/Culture Development:
  • Discover, recruit, develop, disciple, lead key volunteers and future leaders who have what it takes to enhance tech department.
  • Schedule and coordinate team members for services, rehearsals, and special events.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive environment that encourages creativity and growth.
3. Service Preparation:
  • Collaborate with the worship team and pastoral staff to plan and execute technical needs for services and events.
  • Prepare lighting and video setups in advance of services, ensuring all elements are ready and tested.
4. Budget Management:
  • Assist in managing the budget for the technical department, including equipment purchases and maintenance.
  • Research and recommend new technology and equipment that could enhance the church's capabilities.
  • Develop a long-term equipment replacement and upgrade plan
  • Steward resources wisely to maximize ministry impact and sustainability
5. Event Support:
  • Provide technical support for special events, such as weddings, youth programs, funerals, and community outreach programs.
  • Ensure that all technical aspects of events align with the church's mission and vision.
6. Weekend Service Execution amp; Environments
  • Own and execute all production elements for weekend services, ensuring a distraction-free and engaging worship environment
  • Serve as the lead production presence during services, providing real-time leadership and problem-solving
  • Ensure all audio, video, lighting, and streaming elements are aligned and executed with excellence
  • Lead pre-service preparation, production rehearsals, and post-service follow-up to continually improve execution
7. Systems, Standards amp; Workflow Development
  • Develop and implement systems, workflows, and standard operating procedures for all production environments
  • Establish clear production standards that ensure consistency across all services and events
  • Create repeatable processes for service programming, rehearsals, and live execution
  • Evaluate and refine systems regularly to improve efficiency, clarity, and team effectiveness
8. Volunteer Development amp; Leadership Pipeline
  • Build and sustain a healthy volunteer pipeline across all production teams (audio, video, lighting, streaming)
  • Develop team leads and key volunteers to take ownership of specific production areas
  • Create clear onboarding and training systems that allow volunteers to grow in skill and leadership
  • Foster a culture of ownership, excellence, and spiritual formation within the production team
9. Strategic Planning amp; Technical Vision
  • Develop and execute a long-term vision for production that aligns with the church’s mission and growth
  • Evaluate current systems and plan for future upgrades, scalability, and campus needs
  • Research and recommend technologies that enhance the worship environment and congregational engagement
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and best practices in church production
10. Cross-Department Collaboration
  • Partner with the Worship Arts Pastor to align production with the vision and direction of services
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders to support the technical needs of various church environments and events
  • Work alongside Communications to ensure production supports messaging without owning content creation
  • Contribute to overall service planning conversations as the production expert
11. Service Review amp; Continuous Improvement
  • Lead regular evaluations of weekend services and events to assess production effectiveness
  • Gather feedback from staff and volunteers to identify areas for improvement
  • Implement changes that enhance clarity, engagement, and execution quality
  • Ensure a culture of continual growth and learning within the production team
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A strong understanding of audio, video, live streaming and lighting technology.
  • Ability to operate and function the following equipment
    • Camera Switcher – Black magic switcher, constellation switcher
    • FOH Audio Board – DLive c3500
    • Lighting Board – Hog 4
  • Experience in a church or similar environment is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
